Description of 3 PATTI

3 Patti is played with 3 to 6 players. It is played using a deck of 52 cards without jokers. It starts with each of the players betting an agreed amount known as the “Ante”. Then, the dealer is selected at random and made to deal 3 cards facing down in an anti-clockwise direction.

After the cards are dealt, all the players have to make moves. You will have to decide if you want to keep playing the game or if you want to fold. If you decide to keep playing, you must place a bet. If you fold, you must throw your cards and will lose your boot amount. Also, if you fold you cannot play until the next round.

Betting Rounds

Before making your first bet, you can decide to play chaal (see the cards) or play blind (not seeing the cards).

If you play blind, you have to bet at least the current amount (the ante bet) but not more than twice of it. For example, if the ante bet is 15, the minimum bet you must place 15. The maximum bet you can place is 30.

If you play chaal, you have to bet double as the blind players to keep playing. But you cannot bet more than four times the amount. For example, if the ante is 15, the minimum bet you must place is 30. The maximum bet you can place is 60.

These betting rules apply throughout the whole game round.

From now on, everytime you make a bet you can either call or raise:

Call: A call is equal to the same amount as the highest bet in each round.

Raise: A raise is a bet that is higher than all other player’s bet. If you play chaal you can only bet 4x the highest bet. If you play blind you can only play 2x the highest bet.

The betting continues until any of the following things happen:

All other players fold. If you happen to be the only player that didn’t fold, you become the winner of everything in the pot.

All others except two players fold. In this scenario one of the remaining two players can ask for a show. If this happens both players will have to show and compare their cards. The player with the best hand wins.

The Show

When all others except two players fold, one of the players can ask for a show. If so, both players must show their cards. These are the rules for the show:

A show can only happen when there are only two players remaining.

If the two remaining player are Blind players, any of them can ask for a show. They must both bet 1x the current bet. No player is allowed to look at their cards (including the players themselves) before paying for the show.

If the two remaining players are Chaal players, any of them can ask for a show. They will both pay 2x the current bet.

A Blind player can ask a Chaal player for a show. The blind play must bet 1x the current bet. The Chaal player must bet 2x the Blind players’ bet.

A Chaal player cannot ask for a show when the other player is blind. The Chaal player can only bet or drop out.

Both players’ cards are exposed in the show. The player with the highest-ranking hand becomes the pot winner.

If both players have equal hands, the one that paid for the show loses.

The player who wins becomes the dealer in the next game.

Compromise

If you play Chaal you also have to option to ask for a compromise, also known as side show. These are the rules for a compromise:

All players must first place their first minimum bet (Ante).

When it’s you turn to place your next bet, you can ask the player who bet before you (the person to your left side) for a compromise. But you can only do so if the previous player is playing Chaal.

You must then place the current bet of the previous player.

The other player can either accept or refuse the compromise.

If the other player accepts the compromise you must both compare your cards. The play with the lowest ranking hand must fold. If the cards are equal, the one who asked for the compromise must fold.

If the other player rejects the compromise the turn passes on to the next player.
